COMBAT CORROSION FOR WATER AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT INDUSTRY

Primer and topcoats part of ControlTech line

(SAN ANTONIO - June 11-15, 2006) - Sherwin-Williams Industrial and Marine Coatings group offers Dura-Plate® UHS NSF Ultra-High Solids Epoxy topcoat, Dura-Plate® 235 NSF Multi-Purpose Epoxy and Dura-Plate® UHS NSF Primer as part of its comprehensive ControlTech(TM) line of low-VOC, high performance coating systems for tank linings, secondary containment, and corrosion control. These coatings are approved to ANSI-NSF Standard 61 for potable water on tanks of 1,000 gallons and larger and 36-in. and greater pipe diameters.

Dura-Plate® NSF UHS Epoxy is a 98% solids epoxy amine coating offering that can be used as a one or two-coat system for providing superior protection for potable water tank interiors. The coating's high solids formulation provides superior edge retention and film build, and a low temperature hardener is available for cold weather applications. Dura-Plate NSF UHS Epoxy can be applied using airless spray equipment.

Dura-Plate 235 NSF Multi-Purpose Epoxy, engineered for use on concrete or steel tanks, floors, drains, clarifiers, sumps and slabs, is a low-odor, VOC-compliant coating recommended for immersion service in freshwater, saltwater, and potable water. It delivers exceptional chemical and corrosion resistance and has a flash point greater than 200°F. Formulated using a modified phenalkamine epoxy, Dura-Plate 235 NSF can withstand application temperatures ranging from 0°F to 120°F without adversely affecting coating performance. It cures at temperatures as low as 0ºF.

The versatile coating delivers exceptional chemical and corrosion resistance and is self-priming. It can be applied to 8 mils dry film thickness in one coat, and can be recoated in 3-1/2 hours at 77ºF and 50% relative humidity. The semi-gloss finish is available in off-white and buff colors and may be brushed, rolled or spray applied.

Dura-Plate UHS NSF Primer is an ultra high solids amine epoxy formulated as a special application primer that adheres well to pitted steel and concrete surfaces. It penetrates into pits and tight crevices and provides a corrosion-resistant base coat for immersion service environments.

Dura-Plate UHS NSF Primer displays excellent flow and surface wetting properties, and is able to achieve an 8 mil wet and dry film thickness in one pass. Dura-Plate UHS NSF cures to the touch in five hours at 77°F and 50% relative humidity. When the mercury falls to 40°F, a low temperature hardener can be employed to allow projects to move forward despite cold weather.

Formulated from a low-molecular weight polymer, Dura-Plate UHS NSF Primer forms a dense, chemical and corrosion resistant finish. Its high crosslink density ensures superior protection, even at sharp edges, corners and welds. The gold colored primer can be brushed, rolled or spray applied, and topcoated with lining and laminate systems.
