Nominations Now Being Accepted for the NSC Rising Stars of Safety, Class of 2013



Annual National Safety Council recognition of the next generation of safety leaders



ITASCA, Ill., -- Today, the National Safety Council has announced it is accepting nominations for the NSC Rising Stars of Safety, presented by DuPont Sustainable Solutions, which recognizes individuals younger than 40 who have distinguished themselves by improving workplace safety. Individuals must display creative and innovative approaches to safety. Candidates also must have five or more years of direct safety experience and a foundation of safety oversight.



"DuPont stands behind encouraging the future generation of safety professionals through the NSC Rising Stars of Safety program," said James Weigand, president, DuPont Sustainable Solutions. "These up and coming leaders have important insights to help keep the workplaces of tomorrow safe."



The Council invites organizations to submit a NSC Rising Stars of Safety nomination form on behalf of an employee who demonstrates safety leadership through practical examples of:

• Leadership attributes that set the nominee apart from his or her peers

• Initiating and/or leading a successful safety initiative with measurable results

• Engaging peers and transforming the safety culture of the organization

• Valuing safety as a critical part of business operations



"The National Safety Council is focusing on Leading Safety into Future this coming fall at the 2013 NSC Congress & Expo," said Janet Froetscher, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. "Supporting and engaging the next generation of safety leaders will be crucial to addressing the emerging safety issues that require action."



Selected NSC Rising Stars of Safety will be featured in Safety+Health magazine and will receive discounted admission to the 2013 NSC Congress & Expo, Sept. 28 – Oct 4 in Chicago. Access to exclusive workshops and events is included to help honorees network and share their innovative workplace safety ideas. The Council thanks DuPont for sponsoring the 2013 NSC Rising Stars of Safety program.



Candidates can be nominated online at nsc.org/risingstars by May 31, 2013. Organizations are allowed to nominate multiple candidates, but only one honoree will be chosen per company.
