NEMA Publishes Revised NEMA MG 1 Condensed

ROSSLYN, Va. — The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published NEMA MG 1-2011 Condensed Information Guide for General Purpose Industrial AC Small and Medium Squirrel-Cage Induction Motor Standards.

A condensation of the standard NEMA MG 1-2011 Motors and Generators, this document includes some parts reprinted in their entirety while others have been combined or abbreviated.

In 2007 Congress passed the Energy Independence and Security Act, which increased the level of the efficiency standards on existing covered electric motors and added efficiency standards for additional types of electric motors manufactured on or after December 19, 2010. In February of 2011, NEMA revised the Premium Efficiency Motor tables for medium motors by adding efficiency values for 8-pole premium efficiency motors.

NEMA MG 1 Condensed may be downloaded at no cost or purchased in hardcopy for $110 on the NEMA website.
