NEMA, AASHTO, and ITE Release NTCIP 1104 v01 Center-to-Center Naming Convention Specification



(ROSSLYN, Va., June 4, 2009) - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) have published National Transportation Communications for ITS Protocol (NTCIP) 1104 v01Center-to-Center Naming Convention Specification.

Since 1996, NEMA, AASHTO, and ITE have been jointly developing NTCIP, a family of communication protocols for traffic management devices.

NTCIP 1104 v01 defines the naming service for common object request broker architecture (CORBA) for use in center-to-center communications in the transportation domain. NTCIP 1104 v01 may also be referenced by non-CORBA standards to define how certain items should be named. NTCIP 1104 v01 is a base standard that provides definitions of protocols.
