January 17, 2007 From American Institute of Steel Construction, Inc.

New Orleans will play host to over 3,000 steel construction professionals this April during the 2007 North American Steel Construction Conference, produced by AISC. NASCC: The Steel Conference will be held April 18-21, 2007 and will feature presentations from top industry leaders, more than 60 technical sessions, short course educational programming, and extensive trade show exhibits.

Among the highlights of this year's Steel Conference is the Wednesday, April 18 keynote, "Current Trends in Steel: A Mill Perspective." The keynote will feature the leaders of three major domestic mills - Keith Busse of Steel Dynamics, Tommy Valenta of Chaparral Steel and John Ferriola of Nucor Corp. - who will provide their insights and opinions on current trends and the future direction of the steel industry in both the U.S. and the world.

New at the Steel Conference this year is the "Top Hits from Top Profs" educational track. "Top Hits" features seven of the top structural engineering professors working today, each of whom will present their best lectures. Other noteworthy programs to be presented during the innovative technical sessions include "New Findings in Seismic Design," focusing on technical engineering; "Adding Value Through Service Centers," centering on fabrication; "Stability of Steel Structures During Erection," targeted towards erectors; and "Detailing Steel and Precast Concrete Structures," for detailers.

Continuing its association with the Structural Stability Research Council, The Steel Conference will once again incorporate the Council's Annual Stability Conference in 2007. Stability Conference sessions are included in full Steel Conference registration, with session topics including the stability of steel members under fire conditions, bracing behavior of shear diaphragms and more.
