Muss Development Sets Efficiency Benchmark with Independence LED Parking Garage Fixtures


Brooklyn Renaissance Plaza and New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge Raise the Bar for Energy Efficient Parking Garages



WAYNE, Pa. — Independence LED Lighting, the award winning U.S. LED manufacturer, announces that the Brooklyn Renaissance Plaza and New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge have set a new standard for Energy Efficient Parking Garages.



Average illumination area per fixture: 564 Square Feet (SF)

New Benchmark: 44 watt LED fixture = 0.078 watts per SF

Previous Benchmark: 50 watt LED fixture = 0.088 watts per SF

Common Fluorescent: (2) 8' 75 watt tubes = 0.265 watts per SF

Common Metal Halide: (1) 175 watt bulb = 0.310 watts per SF



Benchmark Property: 1.2 million SF mixed-use office and hotel complex

For this project, ultra-high efficiency 44 watt LED fixtures replaced 175 watt metal halide fixtures. The Independence LED fixtures also earned $68,000 in rebates, from the NY State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
