Scalable, modular IP DSLAM portfolio helps enable carriers to accommodate emerging bandwidth-intensive connected home experiences

CHICAGO, June 19 -- Motorola, Inc (NYSE: MOT) today unveiled a suite of next-generation Internet Protocol Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (IP DSLAM) products for the U.S. telecom market at NXTcomm '07 (McCormick Place, June 18-21st). The portfolio of Hi-FOCuS IP DSLAM products and software boasts the ability to naturally migrate and extend network capacity in support of advanced IP video, voice and broadband data services.

An addition to Motorola's portfolio of ultra-broadband bandwidth expansion solutions for telecom providers, the flexible Hi-FOCuS IP DSLAM portfolio of high and low density solutions help provide operators with the economical access capacity and advanced traffic management capabilities needed to support consumer's demand for high-quality, high-throughput video, Internet and voice services. By increasing the robustness of the access network, operators can offer more high-definition TV programming, on-demand services, time-shifted TV, and interactive multi-media applications.

"The IP DSLAM solutions that we are bringing to the U.S. are currently widely deployed and trusted internationally," said Kevin Keefe, vice president of marketing, Motorola Home and Networks Mobility. "With this proven track record of performance and capability we are able to deliver incredible bandwidth potential over existing copper networks. This IP DSLAM portfolio emerges on the scene as a reliable known entity and helps mitigate deployment risks for our customers. We expect this portfolio will be very appealing to service providers as they look to expand capacity for powering the connected home."

The IP DSLAM solutions are fully IP video optimized, Level 3 NEBs compliant and easily scale to address a myriad of field deployment configurations. The portfolio includes the MiniCAB, supporting up to 48 ports, MiniCAB is a self-contained, hardened, low density solution designed for cost-effective deployment in rural and suburban areas. In support of low density remote terminals or central office (CO) deployments, the MicroRAM provides capacity up to 48 ports. For high-density needs at the CO or remote terminal, Motorola offers the M41 and M82 providing xDSL access in varying density intensiveness. Both offer compact form factors and have a variety of line cards to support all types of DSL including ADSL2+ and VDSL2. The M series also provides full voice functionality support including direct POTS interfaces, VoDSL, VoIP and Integrated Voice Gateway functionality.

In addition to launching the IP DSLAM portfolio, Motorola will be demonstrating complete, end-to-end IP video delivery at the show. Motorola will showcase its IPTV over DSL solution that includes video processing and distribution equipment integrated with the new IP DSLAM MicroRAM solution, a Motorola 2246N-VGX DSL Residential Gateway, and the Motorola VIP VIP1200 IP set-top, all working in conjunction with a third-party middleware provider. See all of Motorola's innovative technologies for service providers at NXTcomm '07, stand #2831.
