Press release date: February 14, 2008

Chicago, Illinois, February 14, 2008 - Mori Seiki will showcase the best of its innovative machining solutions at WESTEC 2008 from March 31 - April 3 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, CA. The industry leader in cutting edge machine technology will feature the NZ2000 T3Y3, the world's first multi-axis machine manufactured with three turrets each containing a built-in milling motor(TM) and a Y-axis function. Mori Seiki's products will be located in booth #3300. Built for high-efficiency, mass production machining, the NZ2000 T3Y3 is an ideal solution for machining bar material, shafts, flanges and precision equipment. Like other machines in the NZ series, the NZ2000 T3Y3 provides users with synchronized machining and dramatically reduced machining time. Specifically, the machine's 2-turret, 2-spindle specifications can reduce machining time by approximately 30% when compared to other conventional machines.

Mori Seiki's NT3200/1000SZ is an integrated mill turn center that performs at the highest levels of accuracy and precision. The machine employs DCG(TM) (Driven at the Center of Gravity) technology, as well as the box-in-box construction of the NH Series horizontal machining centers and the turret with built-in milling motor from the NL Series of CNC lathes. Like other machines in Mori Seiki's NT Series, the NT3200/1000SZ contains a B-axis that uses a DD (Direct Drive) motor, eliminating backlash and making high-speed rotation possible. Indexing specifications for the axis cater to high precision machining requirements, allowing for input by units of 0.0001 degrees.

Mori Seiki's NMV5000 DCG(TM) machine answers the growing demand that has come from the die/mold, medical, aerospace and general high precision machining industries as a result of the need for high added value and increasing complexity of part geometries. The NMV5000 DCG achieves superb accuracy by increasing machine rigidity with DCG technology and a box-in-box construction. To further improve the machine's precision, the NMV5000 DCG implements DD (Direct Drive) motors on the B and C axes.

Additionally, the NZ2000 T3Y3, NT3200/1000SZ and NMV5000 DCG make use of MAPPS III, the latest iteration of Mori Seiki's highly successful control system. MAPPS III allows fast processing and is equipped with a collision avoidance function that monitors machine movements in real time. The controls also take advantage of the ease and convenience of conversational input, providing high-speed canned cycles that lead to dramatic increases in programming speed.

Mori Seiki's DuraTurn 2050 lathe and DuraVertical 5100 vertical machining center offer high performance machining at an extremely competitive price. The DuraTurn line was developed with an extremely rigid body to minimize the effects of vibration and increase accuracy, even over long-term operation. With four models of varying size, DuraTurn machines allow for a maximum turning length ranging from 13.2" to 20.9".

In designing the DuraVertical line of machines, Mori Seiki concentrated on surpassing the machine performance of all other models in its class by combining reliability and accuracy with affordability. The DuraVertical 5100 possesses a standard tool storage capacity of 30 tools and provides a tool-to-tool change time of just 1.3 seconds. Additionally, a variety of chip conveyor options are available to boost the machine's productivity even further.

Mori Seiki produces extremely reliable machine tools and distributes worldwide. The American headquarters is in Chicago with offices in Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.
