Minnesota Wire began operation of its new Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Lab this week. The company's EMC Lab is the latest tool in an array of test and measurement and R&D capabilities to provide industry-leading service for complete electrical signal integrity of wire and cable assemblies and their associated devices for a variety of markets. The Lab consists of a 3-meter EMI (electromagnetic interference) chamber that tests for susceptibility to interference from radiated emissions, and shielding effectiveness, ensuring pre-compliance of electrical products for medical, military, commercial and data communications standards.
The EMC Lab service includes staffing by subject matter experts, responsiveness to needs for urgent testing schedules, partnership with local labs for full certification when needed, and highly-competitive pricing.
Minnesota Wire's test and measurement center now consists of three key segments: the EMC (or Electrical Lab; a Mechanical Lab with an array of devices that measure physical properties including temperature and a variety of other stressors; and a Wet Lab for the company's ground-breaking work with carbon nanotubes for non-metallic electrical conductors and shields.
