Safety Apparel-Designed by Welders for Welders o New gloves, welding jackets break free from current "cookie cutter designs" o Flame-resistant jackets feature hidden snaps to protect material, optional cape/bib o Popular with home hobbyists and performance welders
APPLETON, Wis., Nov. 15, 2006--To meet the demand for attractive safety apparel that fits as well as it functions, welding innovator Miller Electric Mfg. Co. introduces Arc Armor(TM), a line of affordable safety apparel that focuses on style, design and comfort. Arc Armor uses high quality materials and a welder-friendly design to break away from the clunky, boxy standard currently found in the industry. New gloves specially designed for MIG, Stick, TIG and metalworking make their debut alongside three new welding jackets and other accessories such as flame resistant welding sleeves, bandanas, caps and a job-site tool bag.
"The welding industry is moving beyond the cookie cutter, one-size-fits-all idea of safety products, demanding garments that are safe from a functional standpoint, yet attractive with a better fit," says John Swartz, welding components & consumables product manager, Miller Electric Mfg. Co.
Miller's Arc Armor line of welding safety apparel and accessories is available to the US and Canadian markets exclusively through Miller welding distributors. Prices may vary by distributor. For more information, or a current list price, please visit: www.MillerWelds.com
Fits Like a Glove Four styles of gloves were designed with specific metalworking processes in mind. Available in small to extra-large, the gloves feature ergonomically curved fingers for added comfort and dexterity. "Miller developed each glove for its intended function," says Swartz. "A high quality TIG weld for example, is dependant on your touch and dexterity. Your Gloves should assist, not hamper your efforts."
o Miller MIG Glove - Made from a combination of durable top grain cowhide and pigskin, this glove is designed for medium MIG welding and metal working tasks.
o Miller H.D. (Heavy Duty) MIG/STICK Glove - Designed for the professional MIG and Stick welder with leather thumb saddle reinforcement and palm patch.
o Miller TIG Glove - Constructed from goatskin and features a padded palm to meet the demands of TIG welding.
o Miller Metalworker Glove - To meet the demands of the daily metal worker, this multi-purpose work glove is designed from goat skin and features textured G-Grip(TM) PVC patches for an enhanced grip.
Versatile Welding Jackets Designed by welders for welders, three new jackets are available in a cloth, combination of cloth and leather, and an all-leather style. The Cloth jacket is made from 100% INDURA® flame resistant cotton fabric and is guaranteed flame resistant for the life of the garment. Jackets feature pin-flap pockets to keep sparks out and allow quick access to contents, as well as two pockets strategically positioned for items like a soapstone or six-inch scale. Newly designed cuffs and collars offer a better fit and cover more exposed skin when compared to traditional designs.
The Combo jacket gives the protection of leather where it's needed while possessing the cool, and lightweight benefits of a cloth jacket. Premium pigskin leather and INDURA® flame resistant cotton where brought together in Miller's unique version of the standard "leather sleeved" welding jacket. But unlike other jackets in the market that can burn up in the shoulders when welding overhead, this jacket completely covers the upper part of the body in premium pigskin leather.
The Cloth and Combo Jacket offers welders a light-weight garment featuring hidden snaps for the addition of a pigskin leather bib/apron. This patent pending design allows for added coverage across the chest or thighs depending on the welding application. Hidden snaps protect materials from scratches and damage while the bib/apron can be removed for light-welding applications.
The all-leather jacket is made from high-quality pigskin leather. Pigskin is light-weight, stretches slightly and is resistant to shrinkage from moisture. The smooth, grain-side of the leather faces outward, allowing sparks to skip or shed off the leather easier than the rough split leather seen in other designs. All three jackets are available in small to 5XL.
Arc Armor Accessories Complementing the line of gloves and welding jackets are a number of other handy accessories to have around the jobsite:
o Jobsite Tool Bag - Features a large 12-in. by 18 1/2-in. foldable zipper opening, 20 separate pocketsæplenty of room to pack welding gear to and from the jobsite under the comfort of the padded shoulder strap.
o Welding Sleeves - Made from INDURA 100% flame-resistant cotton these 21-in. long welding sleeves offer cool, light-weight protection, patches of pigskin leather and a wide elastic band at the top of the sleeve for added comfort.
o Welding Caps - Made from 100% cotton and available in 4 different designs that are reversible to a solid color. All caps feature a low 6-in crown with a soft bill.
o Bandanas - Made from 100% cotton and also available in 2 different designs with a terry cloth insert sewn into the sweatband.
