Seattle, WA, June 2, 2008 - At IMTS 2008, Metronor will be featuring the new naviSCAN: a portable system for scanning and probing directly in the object coordinate system without the use of targets or post-process patch stitching. naviSCAN is designed for inspection and reverse engineering of large components on the shop floor, even under harsh conditions.
naviSCAN is a combination of a Metronor DUO portable CMM for navigation and a Breuckmann stereoSCAN white-light-scanning system. While the DUO system sets up a large working volume, the stereoSCAN precisely and quickly scans areas up to one square meter per shot within this volume. The DUO seamlessly aligns all shots without any user interaction.
Oeyvind Roetvold, President of Metronor states: "naviSCAN is a uniquely efficient solution for scanning the precise geometry of large objects since all data is automatically captured in the object coordinate system from the very beginning. naviSCAN will therefore collect millions of points over e.g. a car panel or a large stamping die in minutes, with no need for pre-positioning targets or patch stitching afterwards. Hidden points that are not accessible through the scanner can simply be measured with a touch probe - still in the object coordinate system - making the naviSCAN ideal for also for applications that require discrete point probing of hidden or difficult to access areas."
