Merrill Corporation Expands Forensic and Data Acquisition Services and Adds Two Certified Forensic Specialists

ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 10 -- Merrill Corporation (http://www.merrillcorp.com/), a leading global provider of technology-enabled services for the legal, financial, real estate and other corporate markets, today announced the enhancement of its Forensic and Data Acquisition Services for litigation support professionals. Merrill has strengthened its capabilities to provide in-house electronic data acquisition and added two respected forensic experts to its team.

"As volumes of electronically stored information swell, litigation professionals seek to streamline workflows, minimize risk and maximize accountability by working with a single, qualified provider from forensic acquisition through productions," said Mark Kindy, Executive Vice President, Strategy & Operations, Merrill Legal Solutions. "With the expansion of our Forensic and Data Acquisition service, Merrill rounds out its suite of electronic discovery solutions."

Merrill's Forensic and Data Acquisition professionals specialize in collecting digital evidence, utilizing specialized hardware and software to copy data from storage media, reconstruct digital files and trace digital footprints that uncover user actions over time. Once evidence is identified and collected, Merrill leverages processing software and skilled professionals to seamlessly integrate it with other case data for review in Merrill Lextranet, a leading Web-based litigation support and case management system.

Merrill offers a complete suite of legal solutions for litigation professionals, including electronic data discovery (EDD) services, consulting, court reporting, trial preparation and presentation services, and translation and interpretation services.

"Merrill understands that a broad range of sophisticated tools is only part of the answer," said Kindy. "Clients want to know that their EDD provider has in-house specialists to guide and assist them at each stage of the litigation lifecycle. To support and direct our enhanced forensics services offering, Merrill is proud to add two experienced forensic specialists to the team -- Jason Velasco and Edward Erkes."

Jason Velasco joins Merrill Legal Solutions as Vice President of Client Services and will be responsible for managing Merrill's Forensic and Data Acquisition services, as well as the consulting and project management organization. Jason was a founder of Renew Data Corp, based in Austin, Texas. He has authored several papers on collection methodologies and is a well-respected testifying expert and veteran forensic specialist in many high-profile cases.

Edward Erkes joins Merrill Legal Solutions as a Forensic and Data Acquisitions consultant.
