Press release date: July 25, 2011

Germantown, MD -- Meggitt, the maker of Wilcoxon Research vibration sensors and accessories, has released all seven videos in a series of narrated presentations about vibration monitoring. The Meggitt Sensing Systems industrial vibration training course videos, on the company's wilcoxon.com knowledge desk, are designed to explain vibration monitoring to beginner and intermediate users and help them understand how to derive the benefits of vibration analysis.

Vibration analysis is often misunderstood by the uninitiated user and as a result the industrial vibration training course was designed to help maintenance and reliability professionals learn the fundamentals of vibration analysis in a user-friendly online format. After watching the free online video series, viewers will better understand how vibration monitoring can be used for condition monitoring of rotating equipment such as fans, motors, pumps, blowers, compressors, chillers, gearboxes, and mixers, to significantly reduce failure rates in the field. This equipment is typically found in industries such as pulp and paper, nuclear power, power generation, petrochemical, oil and gas, food and beverage, chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, railway, steel making, and wastewater treatment plants. Even seasoned professionals working in these industries will find the videos to be a good refresher of how to spot a wide variety of faults.

The free industrial vibration training course is a series of seven short videos, dealing with progressively advanced vibration monitoring techniques. The hundreds of users who have viewed the earlier videos in the series, which went online beginning in March, will now find all seven modules. The complete series is online. Module 1 starts by explaining the basic principles of vibration and how it is detected and monitored. Module 2 introduces the types of transducers and how to select the appropriate sensor. Module 3 goes more in depth on monitoring techniques. Modules 4 through 7 discuss advanced diagnostic techniques for faults commonly detected through vibration monitoring, such as unbalance, bearing defects and stator problems. The course progresses in topic complexity and comprehension, benefiting new and advanced users. All modules are currently online and can be streamed live or downloaded to watch offline at a more convenient time. Each module is about 15 minutes long to ensure quick learning and usability.

The industrial vibration training course can be found online at
http://www.wilcoxon.com/knowdesk_videolibrary.cfm. This is the newest addition to the extensive online knowledge desk available on the www.wilcoxon.com website. A host of other useful tools for beginner through advanced vibration users, such as technical notes, application solutions and vibration calculators, can also be found in the knowledge desk.
