RICHMOND, VIRGINIA - March 24, 2008 - Global packaging solutions leader MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE: MWV) today unveiled its new corporate identity as "MWV: How brands take shape". The company's new brand is designed to articulate in a unified voice its global packaging capabilities designed to protect and promote products, deliver supply chain efficiencies, meet sustainability promises and increase customers' marketplace competitiveness. In essence, MWV reflects the company's ability to help customers' brands take shape.

MWV's global rebranding intiative reflects the company's heritage, global leadership position and vision for the future.
