Press release date: January 17, 2013

Attendees to discover productive, profitable technology for various applications and industries

FLORENCE, Ky.- At TECMA, taking place March 5-8 at Expo Bancomer Santa Fe in Mexico City, Mazak Corporation will spotlight several new highperformance, productivity-improving machine tools in Stand No. 322. From Multi-Tasking capabilities to heavy-duty part-processing possibilities, visitors to the Mazak stand will discover low cost of ownership manufacturing solutions.

Throughout the show, TECMA attendees will experience real-world cutting demonstrations on the Mazak INTEGREX j-200 Multi-Tasking Machine, VARIAXIS j-500 Multi-Face Vertical Machining Center and VERTICAL CENTER SMART 430A Vertical Machining Center. Mazak personnel will also be available to provide attendees with technical advice on how to improve throughput and shorten lead times.

The INTEGREX j-200 and VARIAXIS j-500 both feature Mazakʼs MATRIX NEXUS CNC control for optimized Multi-Tasking programming. The control is within "Level 2" of Mazakʼs "3 Levels of Control" that are part of the companyʼs "3-4-5 The Next Level of Productivity Manufacturing Solution." The VERTICAL CENTER SMART 430A utilizes a "Level 1" SMART CNC control for easy programming and fast job set up.

Mazakʼs "3-4-5 Manufacturing Solution," which is the industryʼs most comprehensive grouping of manufacturing resources and one that encompasses the companyʼs "3 Levels of Control," "4 Levels of Automation" and "5 Levels of Multi-Tasking." The solution allows manufacturers to effectively identify the right level of technology needed for improving their specific operations and advancing their productivity to the next level.

Because they employ independent milling spindle headstocks with B-axis indexing, full Y-axis travels and tool storage, the INTEGREX j-200 and VARIAXIS j-500 are also "Level 3" machines within Mazakʼs "5 Levels of Multi-Tasking."

INTEGREX j-200
The Mazak INTEGREX j-200 is one step closer to 5-axis multi-tasking capabilities for higher productivity and flexibility. Its main turning spindle with C-axis control features an 8" chuck mounted on a 15-hp (11 kW), 5,000-rpm integral spindle motor that generates 119 ft. lbs. of torque. The machine also includes a 10-hp (7.5 kW), 12,000-rpm milling spindle that indexes in 5-degree increments from -30 degrees to 190 degrees (B-axis control) and travels 7.87" in the Y-axis. The machine comes standard with a 20-tool magazine as well as includes 36- and 72-tool capacity options for reducing tooling set up times and providing machining flexibility for a variety of workpieces.

VARIAXIS j-500
The high-accuracy, affordable Mazak VARIAXIS j-500 Multi-Face Vertical Machining Center offers simultaneous 4-axis capabilities and A-axis indexing for reducing set ups, in-process inventory and throughput time. It employs a 15-hp (11 kW), 40-taper spindlewith a maximum speed of 12,000 rpm. An optional 18,000-rpm spindle is also available. For high precision C-axis contouring, the spindle indexes in 0.0001-degree increments. Ample axes travels of 21.7" in Y, 13.78" in X and 20.1" in Z allow the VARIAXIS j-500 to process a maximum workpiece size of 19.69" in diameter and 13.78" in height. The machine comes standard with an 18-tool magazine and includes an optional 30-toolcapacity. Furthermore, the VARIAXIS j-500ʼs ergonomic design makes it easy for operators to load and unload parts via a wide 29.53" front door opening and short 19.69"distance to the center of the worktable.

VERTICAL CENTER SMART 430A
The Mazak VERTICAL CENTER SMART 430A Vertical Machining Center offers unsurpassed value across a variety of applications, from heavy-duty machining to highspeed processing. It features a 25-hp (18 kW), 40-taper spindle with a maximum speed of 12,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 70.2 ft. lbs. A tool-to-tool change time of just 1.3 seconds helps optimize productivity while the 35.43" x 16.93" table provides the largest machining area available for this machine class. The machine comes standard with a 30-tool magazine to ensure part-processing versatility.
