Mazak Names Edmundo Moreno General Manager of Mazak Mexico

(FLORENCE, KENTUCKY) Mexico's leading resource for machine tool technology, applications, and service has a new leader, as Mazak Corporation has named machine tool industry veteran Edmundo Moreno its new general manager of Mazak Mexico.

Moreno comes to Mazak Mexico after lengthy experience in the machine tool business in Mexico, and as a production manager for various manufacturing companies.

After establishing its North American headquarters and manufacturing facility in Florence, Kentucky in 1974, Mazak established its first sales and service support office in Mexico City in 1981. A new headquarters building and Technology Center was completed in Monterrey late in 2001 and dedicated in May 2002.

As more multi-national companies look to Mexico to locate facilities, preferring its proximity to the United States compared to China and India, Mazak is well-positioned to respond to their needs for productivity enhancements and advanced machine tool technology. Like all of Mazak's Technology Centers in North America, the Mazak Mexico Technology Center brings technology solutions to local manufacturers based on their specific needs. Among the methods Mazak uses to provide these solutions are machine-tool demonstrations, application engineering, time studies, and a full range of training and technical assistance to the Mexican manufacturing community.

Moreno has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a graduate degree in administration from Escuela Supirior de Ingenieria Macanica y Electrica of Instituto Politecnico Nacional (IPN). He sees his mission as twofold: "My goals are to continue developing the strength of the Mazak Mexico organization and through that, continue meeting customer expectations for improved manufacturing," he says.

The largest machine tool builder in the world, with manufacturing operations in five countries (Japan, U.S., United Kingdom, Singapore and China), Mazak provides the widest range of advanced-technology equipment and systems for the productivity improvement of manufacturers worldwide.
