Maxatec Wins Exclusive Contract to Supply Tuffscreen's Unique Screen Protection System

ALTRINCHAM, England - Maxatec the mobile Enterprise specialist has partnered with Tuffscreen to supply its unique retrofit screen protection system for mobile devices. The agreement gives Maxatec exclusive distribution for Tuffscreens for a vast range of leading handheld brands, including Bluebird Soft - Pidion, Explore, Arbor, Panasonic, Mobile Compia - M3 Mobile, Janam, Handheld Europe, Opticon, Denso ADC - Toyota Group, Ingenico and Veriphone.

The partnership enables Maxatec customers to benefit from the added protection that Tuffscreen affords for existing and new equipment. Maxatec has already supplied Lothian and Borders Police with Tuffscreen for the force's entire 2000 Bluebird Pidion BM-170 PDAs, also supplied by Maxatec.

"Tuffscreen is an ideal product for Maxatec and we are delighted to be selected as an exclusive distributor for many of the industry's leading brands. Unlike traditional screen protectors that need changing on a regular basis due to wear and tear, Tuffscreen is a fit and forget product that gives years of service before replacement. Our products are among the toughest available and this advanced screen-protection system provides additional peace of mind. Tests show that Tuffscreen improves screen ruggedness and prevents damage when a 70g weight is dropped onto the screen from as high as six feet," says Tom Abbott, Director Mobile Enterprise, Maxatec.

The innovative Tuffscreen retrofit screen-protection system is suitable for protecting all types of mobile computers, including those with resistive touchscreens. It is a proprietary "Gelcore" dual-layer screen protector that provides impact and scratch resistance, while reducing glare. It comprises a hard-coated film bonded to a colourless, transparent gel that provides shock absorption and self-adhesion to the device screen.

"Maxatec's mobile enterprise and EPOS teams have exception knowledge and understanding of their markets and they will be able to help take the Tuffscreen message to a wide range of customers. Although rugged devices have very high standards of manufacture and can withstand heavy handling, replacement screens often cost over GBP100. When the costs of

repair are accounted for, along with the lost productivity and lost revenue resulting from screen damage, the value of screen protection becomes very clear indeed," says Tristan Fowler, Director, Tuffscreen.

Established for over 40 years, Maxatec is an ISO 9001:2008 certified Value Added Supplier of Specialist IT Hardware, Software and Services to the Mobile Enterprise, AIDC and EPOS market sectors.
