W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-A new special technical publication available from ASTM International, STP 1512, Masonry, will play a critical role in the design, construction and repair of masonry construction.

Masonry materials and systems are continuously evolving. Through testing, research programs and forensic evaluations, it is possible to analyze what works well, where improvements can be made and what techniques can make masonry systems more robust so that they are better able to perform their intended function. Testing and research are critical tools to study physical performance of masonry assemblies, including various aspects of strength and durability.

STP 1512 features 12 peer-reviewed papers that address water management and efflorescence, strength and freeze-thaw testing, performance and failure analysis and repairs and more. This research can be used to improve new and old installations so that masonry attains its top performance, both structurally and aesthetically.

STP 1512, Masonry, is available in both print (225 pages; soft cover 6 x 9"; stock #: STP1512; ISBN: 978-0-8031-3424-9) and as an E-book (stock #: STP1512-EB; ISBN: 978-0-8031-8627-9) for $74.
