In conjunction with WSW, the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day (WSD) will take place on the evening of October 7, 2009, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC.

Celebrated annually, WSD serves to raise awareness of the importance of international standardization to the world economy and to promote its role in helping meet the needs of business, industry, government, and consumers worldwide. This year's theme is Standards for environmental stewardship, recognizing the critical role that standards and conformity assessment programs play in environmental protection and preservation, from sustainable products and buildings to greenhouse gas reduction and energy conservation.

Registration is now open for WSD.

The U.S. Celebration of WSD is organized annually by a planning committee consisting of representatives from across the standards and conformity assessment community. The event is co-chaired by ANSI and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Underwriters Laboratories serves as the 2009 administrating organization.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available for WSD at multiple levels of support. For more information or to become a WSD sponsor, click here.
