March ANSI Caucus to Address Recent National Stimulus Package

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced that the next monthly ANSI Caucus Luncheon will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009. The meeting will feature guest speaker Bob Boerge of the Alliance for Science and Technology Research in America (ASTRA). Mr. Boerge will speak on how the recent stimulus package, as well as the budget proposal from the new administration, will likely create opportunities for economic growth and innovation in the U.S.

As the executive director of ASTRA, Mr. Boerge leads the organization's efforts to create innovative policy initiatives and to increase funding for basic and applied research in America.

Founded in 2001, ASTRA brings together organizations and individuals representing the physical and mathematical sciences and engineering with a focus on promoting better understanding of those fields. ASTRA members conduct policy research to educate the public about the links between scientific research and development funding and innovation, our standard of living, national security, and economic growth.

The March Caucus is sponsored by Intertek, an ANSI company member.

The Caucus will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the National Press Club (529 14th Street, NW, 13th Floor, Zenger Room). RSVPs are requested by Tuesday, March 3, 2009.
