Press release date: November 3, 2009
Marantz Business Electronics has announced the signing of an OEM agreement with DJTECH of Japan encompassing solder paste inspection technologies and equipment developed to Marantz specifications. DJTECH is a specialized manufacturer that since 1981 has engineered and applied into electronics and semiconductor industries a variety of machine vision technologies. Their roots include the businesses of DJK and Hitachi Tobu Semiconductor
Marantz Business Electronics General Manager Henk Biemans elaborated on the announcement: "We have engaged with a strong partner in the field of solder paste inspection technology to provide exclusive designs now incorporated within our successful PowerSpector range of Marantz AOI machines. We recognized the limitations of existing technologies and the need for a new approach. With vast experience in the complexities of both 2D SPI and more recently 3D, we found an ideal development partner to execute our process and product vision."
Mr Norio Watanabe, DJTECH President, commented further. "Having delivered over 1,000 automated visual inspection systems, we are now very pleased to take another forward step with both a new technology combining the advantages of 2D and 3D SPI and a knowledgeable and experienced business partner."
The Marantz PowerSpector S1 includes patented new sensor technology and will integrate with Marantz' highly developed SPC software tools and technical on-line support systems. Its new and unique "5D" imaging delivers true area, shape, offset, volume and height measurement together and for the first time, delivering defect detection beyond that previously possible.
The PowerSpector S1 is the latest addition to Marantz' line-up of flexible AOI equipment known for their fast set up times and low false calls, including the iSpector 350mm and 650mm configurations. Marantz will showcase selected models from the complete range of bench top and in-line systems in Munich this month at Productronica Stand A2-134.
About Marantz Business Electronics
Well known for high quality Audio/Video products, Marantz developed its first AOI system in 1994. Developed to inspect PCB assemblies for correct component placement and soldering, the AOI system was designed for use in Marantz's own factories. Proving to be a highly successful, cost-effective alternative to traditional human inspection, Marantz developed its first generation commercial system in 1996. With a steadily growing installed base, Marantz Business Electronics has now sold over 4000 units worldwide.
