Manufacturers: President Has a Second Chance to Get Keystone Right

Project Would Deliver Nearly 140,000 Direct and Indirect Jobs

Washington, D.C., - National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO Jay Timmons issued the following statement after TransCanada formally reapplied for a permit to build the Keystone XL pipeline project:

"Earlier this year, in rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline project, the President said no to a clear opportunity to create jobs and improve energy security in the United States. As consumers of one-third of our nation's energy supply, manufacturers need a consistent and affordable energy policy.

The Keystone project will deliver 20,000 manufacturing and construction jobs - with an additional 118,000 indirect jobs - to an economy that badly needs them. Second chances don't come around very often, and manufacturers are urging the President to do the right thing and approve the Keystone XL pipeline."
