Malvern Zetasizer Nano Provides Protein Insight for Both Students and Researchers at University of Massachusetts

The user-friendliness of the Malvern Instruments Zetasizer Nano is proving to be a significant factor in its successful use in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts (Amherst, MA, USA) for a wide range of protein applications.

The Zetasizer Nano is a powerful protein characterization tool, one of a large range of analytical techniques used in the department.

Professor of Bioanalytical and Biophysical Chemistry, Paul Dubin, whose primary research interest is protein-polyelectrolyte complexes, said:

"Malvern's Zetasizer Nano is user-friendly, so everyone, including undergraduate students can get useful data right away. Its rapid data acquisition means that the time-dependence of a process can be followed.

"The combination of dynamic and electrophoretic light scattering makes measurement of protein isoelectric point simple and precise. The cells are convenient for filtration and reasonably good for small volumes, important for conserving sample"

Professor Dubin and co-workers have cited the Zetasizer Nano in papers on mixed micelle growth, protein aggregation and polycation-immobilized micelles for groundwater remediation.
