Makino Launches BLOG on HEAT Wire EDM Technology

MASON, OH - November 2006 - Makino was one of the first major machine tool companies to tackle the world wide web with an internet site, pioneered online machine tool training, began undertaking the first extensive online seminar program by a machine tool company, and now, Makino has launched one of the first machine-tool technology weblogs, or blog, on HEAT wire EDM technology at www.makino.com/heatblog .

"We thought to ourselves - what's the best way to communicate the success we've been having with this new, dynamic technology?" said Mark Rentschler, marketing manager for Makino. "A blog is a great way to communicate information in real-time, and to allow for feedback from those interested in the topic. HEAT seemed perfect for this medium."

Makino's HEAT blog is updated several times a week by Jeff Kiszonas, EDM product manager at Makino. Kiszonas is located at Makino's Die/Mold Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

"It's very cool to be able to share emails from application engineers, questions wire EDM users ask, and general thoughts about the technology so easily," said Kiszonas. "If you've never used a blog before, it's really simple and allows you to share information quickly and efficiently."

HEAT
HEAT (High Energy Applied Technology) is a new wire EDM technology from Makino that increases wire EDM cutting speeds in poor flushing conditions by up to 40 percent. It is available as a retrofit on Makino wire EDM machines or as an upgrade on new Makinos.
