Gases and Welding Magazine Highlights Showroom Makeovers

Distributors offer tips to make your showroom a selling point.

Dewitt, NY: As a part of its continued effort to provide young gases and welding managers with best practices that will help them grow professionally and further their careers, the May issue of GAWDA Edge features distributors that have recently remodeled their showrooms. The article, entitled "How To: Spice Up A Showroom," shows how little touches can have a big payoff.

Pete Matarese, president of Liberty Supply in Leominster, Massachusetts, was skeptical that his customers would care about a renovation. With a little persuasion from his employees, Matarese allotted $35,000 to make the showroom brighter and more open. Materese's leap of faith paid off with a 20 percent increase in his sales.

Bill Knickerbocker, branch manager of Gases Plus in Gillette, Wyoming, has gained experience from his involvement in renovations at nearly all of his company's stores. When it came to remodeling the Gillete store, Knickerbocker took advantage of 20-ft ceilings to mimic the warehouse style found in Home Depot and Lowe's.

With the popularity of NASCAR inspiring many enthusiasts to work on their own cars, distributors say foot traffic from individuals is increasing. In an era of heightened competition from larger chains like Home Depot and Tractor Supply Co., customers have come to expect clean, inviting stores.

Your may offer in-depth product knowledge and excellent service, but that's only half the battle. Want to learn how to turn your showroom into a showcase?
