Press release date: March 17, 2009

NEW YORK, N.Y. (March 17, 2009) -- MTS Systems Corp., Sensors Division announced today at Interphex that it has increased the maximum order length of the Level Plus® model MG level transmitter to 866 in. (22,000 mm) which is approximately 20% longer than the previous available length. Every liquid-level transmitter built by MTS is customized for a specific tank's order length and process opening, and unlike other technologies, the increase in order length does not affect the accuracy of the transmitter which provides maximum non-linearity of 1/16 inch. All these features allow MTS Sensors to target inventory-grade applications and offer an alternative to the more expensive radar and servo gauges.

"MTS Sensors is proud to further our position as the market leader in magnetostrictive liquid-level measurement with this announcement to the market of our increased ability to go to 22 meters in measuring range," said Lee Aiken, product marketing manager, MTS Sensors. "Our level team at MTS Sensors has been monitoring the trend of increasing tank heights and we believe that the new maximum length will satisfy our customers' demands while we continue to expand the performance of our transmitters."

The model MG level transmitter satisfies the demand for a digital communication interface in the liquid-level marketplace for vessels from 508mm (20 in.) to 22,000mm (866 in.). Outputs for the model MG include Modbus, DDA (proprietary ASCII protocol), and Foundation Fieldbus. The model MG transmitter features 3-in-1 measurement of the product level, interface level, and the average temperature from up to 12 temperature points utilizing a single process opening, eliminating the need for separate level and temperature transmitters. Designed for inventory control, the model MG is accurate to at least 1/16 inch at maximum length and can also provide volume measurement from a 100-point strap table that the user loads into the transmitter. By incorporating the strap table into the transmitter the user does not need multiple copies of the strap table or to code the additional formulas.
