MR. SHRINKWRAP PRESERVES GLEN ECHO HOUSE

WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- Shrink Wrap technicians from Mr. Shrinkwrap successfully covered the roof and chimneys of the Glen Echo House on June 20th, 2014.

Located on 844 S. New Street, the West Chester University owned historic structure caught fire last November. West Chester University decided that a temporary shrink wrap cover would be the optimal solution in preventing further damage until officials can decide how to move forward in the recovery process.

With the assistance of 60 and 80 foot boom lifts, shrink wrap technicians were able to secure the custom sized 1600 square foot sheet of reinforced shrink film to the roof.

The preservation project was a collaborative effort between Mr. ShrinkWrap, ServPro of West Chester, and West Chester University.

About Glen Echo House

Located across the street from West Chester University’s natatorium building, The Glen Echo Main House was once a beautiful historical structure. Built in the Late 1800’s, the 4500 square foot house has been subject to repeated acts of vandalism according to local police. The house fire that occurred on November 3rd, 2013, resulted in substantial damage of the entire second floor and roof. It is believed by local authorities that the fire was most likely a result of arson.

A project to expand and restore the deteriorating structure was approved by legislature in 2000 to convert the building into a conference center, but no such funding has ever been pursued or approved.
