Forklift, conveyor and pallet rack dealers anticipate a rebound this year.

Dewitt, NY - The First Quarter 2010 issue of The MHEDA Journal (http://www.themhedajournal.org), the leading online magazine for the forklift, conveyor, storage & handling, and general material handling equipment industries, was mailed to subscribers on January 15 and is now accessible online at www.TheMhedaJournal.org.

The highlight of this issue, as it is in the First Quarter issue every year, is the Annual Industry Forecast. This year, 50 distributors of material handling equipment from all over the country discussed their strategies to make money in 2010. After struggling through an industry-wide downturn in 2009, distributors are ready to move forward again in 2010. Of those interviewed, 68% expect sales to rise, while 28% anticipate level sales . Only 4% think sales will decrease further. Among storage & handling distributors, 73% predict a sales increase, while 71% of industrial truck dealers and 50% of engineered systems do. Three-quarters of distributors with a diverse product mix expect increases.

The 10 strategies distributors give to make money in 2010:
  • Make It Easy for Customers to Find You
  • Spend Time with Customers to Build Relationships
  • Offer New Products and Services
  • Expand Facilities and Personnel
  • Improve Internal Procedures
