MATHESON Recognizes National Welding Month

Basking Ridge, NJ - April 17, 2012 - MATHESON joins the American Welding
Society (AWS) in recognizing April as National Welding Month in the United
States.

National Welding Month is an opportunity to pay tribute to the professional
welders who help build America every day. In a video posted on the AWS
Website, 2012 AWS President Bill Rice says, "It is my goal to make national
welding month a time for everyone to recognize the contributions to our
lives and to our future generations."

The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that career
opportunities for trained welders will be growing through 2020. National
Welding Month is a call to action for everyone in the field of welding to
find ways to develop and support the NEXT generation of professional welders
through training, mentoring, internships, and entry-level employment.

Every day, and especially during National Welding Month, MATHESON encourages
its partners, suppliers, and customers to be active in taking steps to find
and nurture welding skills in today's American youth.

For its part, MATHESON participates in a number of events. For example, for
the last 17 years running, MATHESON has donated manpower, gases, and
equipment used at the annual SkillsUSA Championship. The SkillsUSA
Championship is an annual showcase of America's most skilled youth,
including multiple classifications of welding competitions. The Company is
also active at other events such as Husker Harvest Days and FFA (formerly
Future Farmers of America).

As part of our commitment, MATHESON donates time, materials and expertise at
vocational schools, community colleges, and technical institutes across the
country providing demonstrations and helping to judge competitions. As
Howard Hubert, Senior Vice President of MATHESON's Packaged Gas Division
commented, "Working with welding education is important to help to rebuild
our skills base for the manufacturing industry in the United States.
Individuals should see welding as an essential, challenging, and creative
professional skill that is important for the future of our country. In
addition to pursuing a career as a professional welder, there are also many
employment opportunities in a large number of welding and manufacturing
support roles. We see a great need for professional welders in all aspects
of industry, providing a great career choice for those individuals with the
interest and drive."
