MARK IV Industries, Inc. Boosts Wireless Solutions

Technology Veterans Loek d'Hont and Tom Coyle Appointed as Vice Presidents of Business Development for Wireless Solutions

AMHERST, N.Y., July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- MARK IV Industries Inc., the world's largest toll transponder manufacturer and a leading provider in RFID technology, announced a substantial commitment toward new wireless ventures with the appointments of Loek d'Hont and Tom Coyle as Vice Presidents of business development for wireless solutions.

"We've seen the great success of technology in transportation. Wireless solutions will continue to play an even greater role in the future, enormously impacting the transportation segment and surely having great impact in other markets," said Bill Montague, chief executive officer, Mark IV Industries. "d'Hont and Coyle bring expertise and industry knowledge to leverage the success of our electronic toll business seeking to provide complete wireless solutions for customers across many vertical segments."

As Vice President of Business Development for Technology, d'Hont leads this new effort to take MARK IV's core-competencies of RFID technology beyond its great success in toll collection.

d'Hont has a long track record of success with RFID technologies in both toll and non-toll applications. Most recently he was Chief Technology Officer of Sirit. Mr. d'Hont holds more than 25 patents, mostly reader related including the immensely successful development of the T-21 product line and the Mobil SpeedPass(TM) while he was at Texas Instruments (TI)

d'Hont began his career in 1981 with TI in Holland leading product development efforts for a variety of RFID transponders and readers, many of which are standard TI products today. He has a rare set of skills resulting from his work on a broad and diverse range of wireless solutions. His leadership skills were fundamental to the success of TI's 134 kHz transponder solutions for livestock identification and in the development of 13.56 MHz battery-less RFID technology used in applications such as contact-less smartcards, anti-counterfeiting and inventory tracking applications.

d'Hont also served as vice president of product development for Matrics Inc., later acquired by Symbol Technologies. At Matrics d'Hont led development efforts for the "EPC Class-0" UHF RFID technology, considered to be one of the most robust RFID technologies in the market today.

In another newly created position as Vice President of Business Development for Strategy, Tom Coyle will leverage expertise in developing successful RFID marketing campaigns to extend the depth and breadth of the MARK IV RFID business. Coyle brings a diversity of industry experience with wireless technology vendors offering solutions that included passive and active tags plus GPS tracking systems. Coyle has worked with many industry leaders, including Savi Technology (now Lockheed Martin), where he was part of the leadership team credited with winning the world's largest RFID contract for tracking ocean containers worldwide.

As senior vice president of sales and marketing at Matrics, Inc. (now Symbol) his sales team won commercial accounts for supply chain and retail applications with many Fortune 100 companies including the Aerospace, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Food & Beverage and Automotive sectors. At both Savi Technology and Matrics, he helped lead these companies from having very little presence in the RFID marketplace to become RFID industry leaders.

Over the past two decades d'Hont and Coyle actively participated in a wide variety of industry and standards related organizations including ISO, EPCglobal, DSRC, the Assn. for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM), Voluntary Inter-industry Commerce Standards (VICS) and many others.

d'Hont and Coyle will report directly to Bill Montague.
