o Leading European IT Services Firm Wins Major Shared Services Agreement With the Learning and Skills Council
LONDON, January 22 -- LogicaCMG today announces the signing of a major contract with the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) to deliver infrastructure and services that will underpin the British education system's shared services initiative known as MIAP (Managing Information across Partners).
The MIAP programme will aim to provide better services to students, academic institutions, examining bodies, Government agencies and employers.
LogicaCMG was selected following a competitive tender and will have responsibility for delivering the service. The programme is intended to be operational for all learners over the age of 14 by September 2007.
Some of the key stakeholder benefits of MIAP include:
o Learners should be better equipped to make career decisions as they will receive improved advice and guidance, and educational institutions will be better informed about their past achievements. o Education providers will benefit from common sector standards and data definitions which will reduce bureaucracy and enrolment administration, allowing providers to offer better services, including individual learning plans, modular learning and e-Learning. o Awarding bodies will benefit from reduced administration demands, including improved identity checking and streamlined reporting of learner statistics. o The Government will be better equipped to make funding and planning decisions by targeting resources better at a local level. It will also be able to see the impact of educational policies. o Employers will (with consent) be able to verify an applicant's achievements and will be better equipped to select which education and training providers will best meet their skills requirements.
The agreement is the latest in a string of contract awards for LogicaCMG with British education institutions. LSC will join clients that include UCAS, Ufi, The National College for School Leadership, City and Guilds and Ofsted.
Juanita Taliadouros, managing director, Public Sector at LogicaCMG, said: "MIAP will bring considerable benefits to learners, learning providers, awarding bodies, employers and the wider community as well as other partners working in the education and training sector. This will allow better use and re-use of information as well as providing foundations for other data sharing initiatives in British education. It underlines the strength of our focus on education."
