Lockheed Martin-Electronic Systems formally presented the STAR Supplier Award to Atlantic Fasteners August 13, 2009 at its headquarters in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
The Lockheed Martin STAR Supplier Award recognizes high-performing suppliers of Electronic Systems and Lockheed's other three business areas.
To be nominated, Atlantic Fasteners met the quality, delivery and other business requirements set and evaluated by Electronic Systems for at least 12 months. Of the Lockheed division's 4,625 vendors, only 36 received the award, placing Atlantic Fasteners in better than the top 1% percent of suppliers. Companies are re-evaluated annually to ensure that they remain worthy of keeping the STAR Supplier status.
"It's such an honor to be a STAR Supplier of Lockheed Martin," said Marc Dionne, Atlantic Fasteners military-aerospace division leader. "It's great motivation for all of us in the aerospace division."
During the award presentation, he said several Lockheed Martin executives noted that Atlantic Fasteners deserved the award for helping the Electronic Systems division meet critical deadlines. "Business with Lockheed Martin has grown significantly since we became a STAR Supplier," Dionne said.
Sales and market share have grown for the Atlantic Fasteners military-aerospace division in 2009 despite the tight economy. Dionne noted that orders are coming from long-time customers as well as new customers, including other divisions of Lockheed Martin.
