CREST® Condensing Boiler & Strato-Therm+(TM) Solar Thermal Storage Tank Receive Honorable Mention for Innovation
LEBANON, TN - Lochinvar, LLC is pleased to announce that its CREST® Condensing Boiler and Strato-Therm+ Solar Thermal Storage Tank are among the products recognized in the 2012 AHR Expo Innovation Awards. CREST was awarded Honorable Mention in the Heating category, while Strato-Therm+ received Honorable Mention in the Green Building Products category. A panel of judges made up of ASHRAE members evaluated all of the entries received in this year's competition, which represented a broad cross-section of the HVACR marketplace.
Honored for innovation in the Heating category, the CREST Condensing Boiler brings leading-edge technology and exceptional energy-efficiency to the largest commercial applications, making it the ideal choice for both new construction and energy retrofit applications. Available in five models that range from 1.5 to 3.5 million Btu/hr, CREST offers thermal efficiencies as high as 99 percent. Among Lochinvar's latest innovations, the Strato-Therm+ integrates three appliances into one by functioning as a solar thermal storage tank, an indirect water heater and a buffer tank for hydronic applications. Offering a cost-effective, simple means for introducing solar thermal energy into any application, Strato-Therm+ leverages solar energy as well as the natural buoyancy of heated water to efficiently stratify the hydronic heating water stored in the tank. This stratification process results in the hottest water rising to the top of the tank, which allows domestic hot water to be generated instantaneously through a corrugated stainless steel coil to meet temperature demand. It also allows for the space heating system to access the most appropriate temperature throughout the stratified heat source for distribution to the heat emitters based on the design temperature of the system. The cooler water in the bottom of the tank provides greater collector efficiency as well as enhanced solar thermal heat generation. Strato-Therm+ is available in nine models, ranging from 125 to 900 gallon capacities.
