Lincoln Electric and FFA Partner to Make Welding Education Easier and More Accessible

Cleveland - Lincoln Electric has supported the FFA as a sponsor for 60 years. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Lincoln Electric has partnered with the National FFA Organization to promote welding and agricultural education.

As a part of this commitment, Lincoln, the FFA and The National Council for Agriculture Education have teamed up to produce "Welding Connects Your World" - a free welding curriculum which is available for download on the Agriculture Education Learning Center's Web site at agedlearning.org.

The newly launched site is a collaboration between the National FFA and the National Council for Agricultural Education. It is dedicated to providing teachers with new and dynamic electronic educational resources. Still in the preliminary development stage, the site seeks to eventually serve as a one-stop resource for educational materials, tools, career guidance and other resources.

"Welding Connects Your World" was designed to make welding education easy. There are three components to the curriculum: an e-learning Web site, three PowerPoint presentations and two facilitator guides. The student navigated e-learning Web site provides an introduction to arc welding practices, careers and welding process information. Three instructor-led, interactive Power Point presentations cover arc welding basics, stick welding and MIG welding. Additionally, two teacher's guides provide welding lesson instruction, extended lab and classroom activities, and additional welding resources.

In October 2007, at the FFA national convention in Indianapolis, Lincoln Electric will be recognized for its 60-year commitment as a sponsor of the organization. One of only a few companies with such a long-lasting history, Lincoln sees it as part of its commitment to properly training and investing in the next generation of welders.

The Lincoln Electric Company, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic arc-welding systems, plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment and has a leading global position in the brazing and soldering alloys market.
