Lincoln Electric And The United Association Team Up To Train The Trainers

Cleveland - On August 14-19, 2006, the United Association (UA) and Lincoln Electric teamed up for the 53rd UA Instructor Training Program at Washtenaw County Community College in Ann Arbor, Mich. It was attended by more than 1,800 UA members from across the United States and Canada.

Courses in the training program range from technical courses in plumbing and welding, to general courses in first aid and public speaking. All courses are designed to help the UA instructors be better teachers. UA members, who include plumbers, pipe fitters, service technicians, steam fitters and sprinkler fitters, are driven by the motto "we do it right the first time," making it imperative to properly educate the instructors who teach in local union training programs.

Lincoln Electric team members were involved in teaching or assisting in five different courses in MIG, TIG, stick and pipe welding. Joe Kolasa, an instructor from Lincoln's welding school, taught Arc Welding - Practical Fundamentals and Theory. Dennis Klingman, Dan Klingman and Erin Justice from the company's technical training department assisted with the other courses.

To help instructors keep up to date with the latest technology, and demonstrate the newest methods, Lincoln Electric brought its newest equipment for the UA instructors to train on. Products included the Power Wave® power sources and the new Power Feed 25M® wire feeder.

The week-long UA Instructor Training Program is part of the UA's well-respected and highly effective instructor education program, which consists of five one-week sessions over a period of five years.

Lincoln Electric and the organization have been partners in training instructors since the program was launched in 1954. For union instructors looking for training materials and continuing education, Lincoln offers free material and one free week of training for any course offered by the Lincoln Electric Welding School.

The Lincoln Electric Company, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic, arc welding systems, fume extraction equipment, plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment and has a leading global position in the brazing and soldering alloys market.
