Agere's selection based on superior performance and costs of its product, as well as customer service
LAS VEGAS, May 2 / -- Lenovo Networks, a subsidiary of Lenovo Group Limited (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY), has selected Agere Systems (NYSE:AGR) Gigabit Ethernet solutions for use in Lenovo's networking product portfolio to be installed in medium- and large-sized businesses.
Lenovo Networks' equipment embedded with Agere's solution will feature advanced, fully managed switches powered by Agere Systems' chipset solution that offers superior performance and cost benefits compared with any alternative technologies.
The Lenovo Networks' equipment will be displayed in Agere's meeting room this week at Interop 2006 in Las Vegas. (Agere meeting rooms at Interop are located at Surf A and B in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.)
Lenovo Networks considers the Agere Systems' solution to be an unrivaled platform with the highest level of integration and performance in the industry, delivering 10 Gigabits per second (Gbits/s) Ethernet channels on a single device with transmission speed of 1 Gbit/s. This solution not only powers delivery of unmatched multimedia and storage performance in the enterprise sector, but also enables delivery of multiple systems with the fastest time to market.
The solution adopted by Lenovo Networks consists of Agere's ET4148 and ET4128, as well as the Octal TruePHY(TM) 1081 device. The Octal TruePHY features low power and exceeds industry standard requirements for reach and error-free performance by approximately 40 percent. Also inherent in the TruePHY architecture is the industry's most advanced cable diagnostic capability, with the ability to pinpoint cable faults with precision of 100 meters in standard cabling.
