STAMFORD, Conn., July 23 - Aperture Technologies, Inc., the leading global provider of software for managing the physical infrastructure of data centers, has been selected by HSBC Holdings plc to provide its enterprise software solution Aperture VISTA 500. This software will be used to enable better capacity planning and management of the HSBC data center operations worldwide.
Aperture VISTA 500 enables organizations to visually manage the complex physical environment of the data center. VISTA is designed to help organizations with their capacity planning and utilization. For example, organizations can see all infrastructure variables at a glance, including space, power, cooling, network, and storage, to keep the data center at peak efficiency.
HSBC has 22 data centers in 10 countries, supporting 312,000 staff and 125 million customers. Implementation of VISTA 500 will begin this year and is expected to be complete worldwide by 2009.
Edward Case, a Senior Business Consultant with the Global Data Center Services organization at HSBC, said: "Having accurate, consistent and readily available knowledge of your data center inventory and what you have running where, together with your power, cooling and space capacity is not easy to achieve. VISTA will provide a central repository, so we can see this information both on a data center basis and globally. VISTA will also bring consistency to our processes for managing data centers. For anyone who needs to understand what is consuming resources in the data center, VISTA is an important tool."
William T Clifford, CEO of Aperture, said: "The physical infrastructure of the data center is becoming increasingly complex. For organizations that want to keep centers running at peak efficiency, who have centers nearing capacity or who are embarking on data center build projects, it is essential that they understand their resource use today. Aperture VISTA provides companies like HSBC with the visibility they need to ensure that critical data centers perform to the high standards that the business demands."
