Kodak's New Production Scanners Deliver Power, Lower Total Cost of Ownership and Built-In Connectivity to Kofax-based Environments

ROCHESTER, N.Y., - New production scanner models from Kodak integrate the latest hardware-enabled connectivity to KOFAX Products and help businesses improve productivity across document-based processes. The KODAK i5200V Scanner and KODAK i5600V Scanner include built-in hardware integration of KOFAX VRS 5.0 Professional Software and are the first production scanners to feature KOFAX CGA 6.0 hardware. Connectivity for KODAK NGENUITY 9000 Series Scanners and KODAK TRÛPER Scanners is also enhanced with integrated VRS 5.0 Professional Software.

"Kodak's advancements in production capture are driven by the need for businesses to quickly process documents that contribute to their bottom line, such as invoices, claims and purchase orders," said Tony Barbeau, Kodak's General Manager for Document Imaging. "Pushing the pace of these processes requires a combination of powerful imaging capabilities and flexible connectivity. These solutions help end users effectively achieve both."

Kodak's connectivity enhancements build on the award-winning technology of KODAK i5000 Series Scanners, which include precision optics technology for greater imaging accuracy and a touch screen interface for ease of use. The i5200V Scanner and the i5600V Scanner each provide an unlimited recommended daily volume with rated speeds of 140 pages per minute (ppm) and 170 ppm, respectively, at 300 dots per inch in color.

NGENUITY Scanners, a mainstay of Kodak's production capture portfolio, come bundled with a built-in hardware integration of VRS 5.0 Professional Software. Upgrades to NGENUITY Scanners also include a new feed separation roller module, which supports an ultra-lightweight feeder kit and replacement consumables used by other KODAK Scanners. The new rollers offer better performance at a significantly lower price. The rollers, in addition to a new consumable kit, deliver superior total cost of ownership year over year versus older models of NGENUITY Scanners. Existing customers of KODAK NGENUITY 9000 Series Scanners are eligible for a feeder upgrade option that is available for purchase through KODAK Service and Support.

"We're committed to the continued innovation of KODAK Scanners, which helps us provide customers with one of the industry's broadest production capture portfolios," said Barbeau. "These enhancements make the NGENUITY Scanners more affordable and more easily integrated within customers' existing business workflows."

KODAK TRÛPER Scanners also come bundled with VRS 5.0 Professional Software. The low-volume production platform is comprised of the compact, rotary-only 3610 scanner and the rotary-plus-flatbed 3210 model, each of which is capable of running up to 95 ppm. They offer advanced image enhancement capabilities, such as Advanced Color Dropout Technology that allows users to simultaneously remove up to six custom colors in a multicolor document to ensure optimal OCR, ICR and barcode recognition.

"Kodak's production capture platforms reflect real-world scenarios where images from documents are required to solve business problems," said Barbeau. "Our customers need to consider a number of variables to meet these demands. Feature upgrades and enhanced connectivity help to improve virtually every aspect of performance and cost."

KODAK Scanners are available for purchase through Kodak's network of channel partners. The i5200V Scanner is priced at $30,000 (U.S.) and the i5600V Scanner at $45,000 (U.S.). Kodak offers four models of NGENUITY Scanners priced at $18,000, $20,000, $25,000 and $35,000. The TRÛPER 3210 and 3610 Scanners are priced at $8,495 and $6,995, respectively.
