More accessible digital records help to improve patient care

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Large, multi-practice medical firms now have greater access to electronic and paper-based records through intelligent document conversion services. White-Wilson Medical Center, a large, multi-specialty physician group on Florida's Emerald Coast, is easily digitizing more than 8 million critical medical images. The center recently selected solutions from Digital Records, Inc. (based in Greenacres, Fla.) to power their document conversion requirements and needs using the KODAK i4200, KODAK i4600, and other KODAK Desktop Scanners. The converted documents will be available for viewing in White-Wilson Medical Center's recently implemented Greenway Medical EMR System.

The demands on large, multi-disciplined physicians' practices continue to rise. Recent legislation changes have created a demand for digital access to healthcare documents, along with an influx of newly insured patients. Keeping up with this increase in patient information requires fast, effective digitization of electronic medical records. Intelligent scanning solutions like the KODAK i4000 Series Scanners used at White-Wilson, allow mid-sized and large medical practices to process information at production-level speeds-and prepare information for a wider range of business processes and workflows.

"Delivering the most accurate information to all of our patients ultimately helps us to provide excellent, quality care," said Terri Powell, Supervisor of Health Information, White-Wilson Medical Center. "The addition of the Digital Record, Inc.'s medical scanning services using Greenway EMR and the KODAK i4000 Series Scanners helps our physicians and staff implement a more efficient patient flow process, and ensure all our offices provide coordinated and comprehensive healthcare for our patients."

The growth of medical and health services manager occupations are slated to increase by 16 percent into 2018, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. As the health care industry prepares for overall growth, physician groups like White-Wilson Medical Center will need to cover a wider, more specialized range of services than a traditional physician's office. White-Wilson's offerings include neurosurgery, pediatrics, gastroenterology, urology and a variety of other specialties. Digital Records, Inc.'s seven-step scanning service uses a defined records management process to scan image, index and help ensure the integrity of data.

"Using the KODAK i4200 and i4600 Scanners with Digital Records, Inc.'s document conversion services, will easily import information into Greenway Medical's EMR Solution. This will effectively help White-Wilson capture and convert millions of images into digital information," said Allan German, VP of Healthcare, Digital Records, Inc. "Businesses can quickly become more accountable and more productive with intelligent conversion services that provide functions like back-file and day-forward conversions, ROI analysis, HIPAA and FDA compliance. These services can help them manage a range of information including patient charts, reimbursements, accounts payable and receivable, and others."

Digital Records' scanning and records management services utilizes software with a simple, easy-to-use interface that incorporates user-friendly features like patient chart progress reports, point-of-service patient check-in dashboards, and intuitive billing processes. Medical center staff can use the software and be more compliant, decrease errors, and simplify their overall business processes. Digital Records, Inc. makes it easy to import various healthcare document information into Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Enterprise Content Management (ECM), or other healthcare applications.

"Kodak works with solutions providers like Digital Records, Inc. to help physicians' offices and other medical practices discover more simplified, efficient ways to manage and convert their documents for easy access into their electronic medical records," said Jody Miller, Business Development Director, Health Solutions, Kodak's Business Solutions and Services Group. "Our solutions are easy-to-use, accessible and scalable, allowing medical providers to manage critical information, and enabling them to focus on patient care and growing their practice."
