Press release date: September 24, 2009

First probe stations installed in Saudi Arabia to be used to promote global research and science achievement Beaverton, OR, USA, (September 24, 2009) - Cascade Microtech, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCD) today announced King Abdullah University of Science and Technology's selection of multiple probe stations to support measurements in the area of materials analysis, nano-technologies and semiconductor research. Proven performance capability in multiple microwave and DC applications combined with the flexibility to address diverse applications led this new university to choose Cascade Microtech as a partner in providing the most technologically advanced wafer-probing equipment.

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia is a recently-opened international, graduate-level research university dedicated to inspiring a new age of scientific achievement with local and global benefits.

Their test labs will be equipped with high-performance, high-frequency measurement instrumentation, including multiple Cascade Microtech probe stations, eVue(TM) digital imaging systems, and thermal control systems. As part of the initial partnership, both organizations will collaborate to offer application training and product demonstrations. Cascade Microtech will work closely with KAUST to develop an initial set of test protocols to demonstrate testing in new areas of research to include nano-structured materials, magnetism and magnetic materials, and fabrication of mono-dispersed nano-particles.

"Cascade Microtech met the probe station performance requirements necessary to cover multiple microwave and DC disciplines," said Professor Xixiang Zhang, lab manager of the Advanced NanoFabrication Center at KAUST. "My team was impressed with the capabilities of the Cascade Microtech probe equipment; the flexibility, the ease of use, the thermal measurement capability, and the eVue digital imaging system. More importantly, we were impressed with the knowledge level and support of their field applications team. Given the research focus of this lab, Cascade Microtech's measurement and application expertise is important to the success of our program."

"It is a privilege to be a part of this unique research and learning environment, where advanced wafer probing techniques in R&D engineering of semiconductors will be used by students for training and research," said Geoff Wild, CEO, Cascade Microtech. "We are excited to be a part of the expansion of high technology in the Middle East. We look forward to sharing our 25 years of innovation and technology expertise with KAUST as they develop into an international center of excellence for semiconductor manufacturing and design."
