Johnson Matthey Appoints Dr. Paul J. Andersen Global Technology Director for the Stationary Emissions Control (SEC) Group
New Position Strengthens the Company's Expanding Role as The Worldwide Leader in Reducing Emissions from Power Generation, Locomotives and Marine Equipment
MALVERN, PA, March 24, 2010-As part of its strategy to strengthen its position as worldwide leader in emissions control technology, Johnson Matthey appointed Dr. Paul J. Andersen to the newly created position of Global Technology Director for its Stationary Emissions Control (SEC) group. SEC designs and supplies catalysts and engineers catalytic systems to control emissions from coal power plants, gas turbines and boilers, stationary gas and diesel engines, locomotives and marine vessels.
Dr. Andersen has worked for the company for 18 years, serving in various technology management roles for Johnson Matthey's gasoline, light and heavy duty diesel businesses as well as stationary emissions control. Most recently, he wasTechnical Director for Johnson Matthey's Emissions Control Technologies (ECT) group in North America.
Paul will be responsible for directing all SEC technology development activities on a global basis, according to Michael T. Cinaglia, SEC Managing Director. "Johnson Matthey recognizes the importance of controlling emissions from stationary and large engine non-road sources and feels that Dr. Andersen's technical background and extensive experience in catalysis will serve SEC well," said Cinaglia.
Dr. Andersen received a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana, Ill., and a PhD in chemical engineering from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. He is the co-holder of eight patents related to catalytic technology based on his work at Johnson Matthey and has co-authored numerous publications and presentations, including several for the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
