Joey Benadretti, SYSPRO USA President, Named Finalist for AeA

COSTA MESA, Calif., -- April 12: SYSPRO, a leading enterprise business solutions provider, has announced the naming of Joey Benadretti, president SYSPRO USA, as a finalist for the AeA High Tech Innovation Award in the category of "High Impact Person of the Year." The selection of Benadretti is in addition to SYSPRO being named a finalist in the categories of "Outstanding Private Company" and "Outstanding Software."

Joey Benadretti has over 25 years' experience in working with manufacturers and distributors and has spent the past 20 years with SYSPRO. As SYSPRO President and Director of Operations for the Americas, he has concentrated on building an in-depth organization to meet the growing needs of both the company's expanding reseller channel and the SYSPRO user base.

Benadretti has extensive experience in working with senior industry consultants, analyst firms and editors and is extremely active in the business and software community. He also serves on editorial advisory panels for several key industry publications. Benadretti is highly regarded in ERP circles for his marketing capabilities, strategic initiatives and thought leadership. He is routinely interviewed by industry experts and has been instrumental in positioning the global SYSPRO brand.

Benadretti is a champion of US manufacturing and Value Added Resellers.
He believes that the fundamental formula for business success has remained constant over the years. "Successful companies build on a foundation of information and rely on good data to make sound business decisions. They know their markets and their customers. They optimize production to achieve maximum efficiency, responsiveness and throughput. They adhere to the Lean concept and strive to maintain inventories at minimum levels while still supporting customer service objectives. They establish strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners; and, most importantly, are ready to adapt to new technologies," he says.

During his long association with SYSPRO, Benadretti has experienced many paths to victory and has learned many lessons along the way. "I believe that in our efforts to win we become overly sophisticated in our approaches. Very often it is wise to revisit fundamentals and to make sure that we are all moving in the same direction and supporting each other's efforts," he says.

The loss of U.S. manufacturing jobs to overseas locations remains a "hot" topic for Benadretti. While many pundits look upon this migration as inevitable and unstoppable, he feels that there still are ways to keep some of these jobs in the U.S. Rather than advocating massive tax incentives to keep manufacturing operations in the United States or federal legislation to halt the outflow of manufacturing jobs, Benadretti believes there is one other anchor - technological innovation. "We are forgetting that the United States has been on the forefront of technology since the nineteenth century. The electric light was invented in the U.S., as was the telephone. The transistor was developed in the United States, paving the way for the subsequent development of the integrated circuit and huge industries surrounding the personal computer. The United States was the first country to put men on the moon," he says.

While he feels technological innovation is key, he also believes it is the coupling of technology with an indomitable entrepreneurial spirit and passion that has made the U.S. the leading industrial nation in the world. He has applied this formula to grow SYSPRO USA into one of the top private software companies in North America and feels there is a lot more that can be done to keep the U.S. manufacturing sector viable. Technology, where applied effectively, can bring new levels of competitiveness that will keep manufacturing in the U.S. while at the same time expand the industrial base so there will be jobs for our children in years to come.

Benadretti is also a strong advocate of community involvement and spearheads the participation of SYSPRO in community events and also urges SYSPRO employees to participate and volunteer.

According to Tim Jemal, AeA executive director for Orange County and the Inland Empire, "The Race to Innovate in Orange County is evident in the record number of nominations AeA received for this year's awards . . . The High-Tech Awards recognize innovative products, people and business processes that stand out."

AeA will present the 14th Annual High-Tech Innovation Awards on May 10, 2007 at the Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach to honor companies, individuals and products in the technology field that drive innovation in Orange County and the Inland Empire. City of Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle will act as the master of ceremonies for the event.
