Jeffrey Goldfinger, director of business development at L-3 Interstate Electronics, was recognized by ASTM Committee F38 on Unmanned Aircraft Systems for his outstanding leadership of standards activities that support global UAS community and heighten industry's safety and access to national airspaces. A member of ASTM since 2003, Goldfinger spent 20 years as a Naval Flight Officer in the U.S. Navy, is past chairman of F38, and received ASTM President's Leadership Award in 2009.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., - Jeffrey Goldfinger, director of business development at L-3 Interstate Electronics, San Diego, Calif., has received ASTM International's highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities, the Award of Merit. ASTM Committee F38 on Unmanned Aircraft Systems recognized Goldfinger for his outstanding leadership of standards activities that support the global UAS community and heighten the industry's safety and access to national airspaces. A member of ASTM International since 2003, Goldfinger is a past chairman of F38 and received the ASTM President's Leadership Award in 2009. He has promoted the global recognition of F38 standards to regulators, governments and industry and has worked with the Department of Defense and product/service providers for the acceptance of ASTM standards. Goldfinger spent 20 years as a Naval Flight Officer in the U.S. Navy, accumulating more than 1,500 flight hours in various carrier-based tactical aircraft as well as leading a Pioneer UAS detachment at sea. After retiring from the Navy in 2002, he remained active in the UAS community, serving both industry and government customers with Brandes Associates, Santa Barbara, Calif. In 2006 he became director of unmanned aircraft systems applications at L-3 Link Simulation and Training in Arlington, Texas, and assumed his current role at L-3 Interstate Electronics in 2011.
Outside ASTM International, Goldfinger is a member of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the American Bonanza Society. An FAA certificated commercial pilot, he holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.
