Jaeco Fluid Systems, Inc. has successful developed a JaecoPak Packed Plunger pump that meters two different volumes of two different high viscosity materials at the same time (in phase). The pump was developed for a major producer of fiberglass pipe and other fiberglass products to pump metered amounts of both resin and catalyst simultaneously.
Special heavy-duty valves are employed to handle the high viscosity resin and hardened materials are used in the liquid end components of the pump to withstand the abrasiveness of the resins. An in phase drive shaft is used in the gear box to drive both pump arms at the same time, allowing premixing of the resin and catalyst at very precise ratios as it is pumped into the molds.
The company uses several different capacity metering pumps on their production lines, depending on the amount of material required per product and the ratio of catalyst to resin. The company presently has in use over 60 pumps in four manufacturing facilities around the world.
Jaeco has also developed an AccuFlow(TM) pumps, with similar capabilities, which is a combination Packed Plunger pump and Diaphragm pump. AccuFlow pumps can be accurately varied up to 27% of full rated capacity while running by adjusting the Diaphragm pump without the need for a variable speed drive. Capacity can be further altered, up to 100%, by adjusting the Packed Plunger pump while stopped.
