Textron Fastening Systems, a business unit of Textron Inc.
840 W. Long Lake Road , Suite 450
Troy, MI, 48098
USA

Press release date: October 4, 2006

TROY, Mich. Oct. 4, 2006 - Textron Fastening Systems has introduced three families of Intevia® mechanisms with embedded intelligence that allows remote locking and unlocking of fasteners.

The new mechanisms are contained in an Intevia® Evaluation Kit (E-Kit) that Textron Fastening Systems is providing to corporate research and design centers and independent and university test labs.

"Intevia® E-Kits allow designers and engineers to evaluate and explore the capabilities and potential uses of intelligent fastening in their own applications," said Jane Heffner, Intevia® business segment leader for Textron Fastening Systems. "Intevia® represents a totally new category of design, assembly and service solutions. These kits will enable users to develop their own applications and explore the boundaryless potential of this technology."

Intevia fastening mechanisms contained in the E-Kit include:

o In-Line (IL Series) for medium-load, high-endurance applications, including cabinet and closet locks, and security locking.

o Ring (Ri Series) low-profile fasteners for medium-load applications such as access panels or decorative trim attachments, and reconfiguration of accessories.

o Radial (Ra Series) with high load-bearing capability for structural panel attachment, secure locking, and rapid reconfiguration applications.

Intevia® E-Kits also contain equipment to power and wirelessly link communications software that activates the intelligent devices, along with cabling and interconnection modules for assembling networked fastener configurations. These range from simple pushbutton operations to three-button, radio-linked control and monitoring of multiple fasteners and their auxiliary functions.

"Each of these systems was developed in response to customer needs," Heffner said. "They provide economic value over virtually all design, assembly and servicing solutions currently in operation in our target industries, and clearly demonstrated value in performance, integration, simplification and security."

Target markets for Intevia® intelligent fastening mechanisms include global aerospace and defense, automotive, and industrial OEMs and suppliers.

Textron Fastening Systems owns exclusive global rights to develop, commercialize, manufacture and market Intevia® brand products using proprietary intelligent fastening technology from Telezygology, Inc.
