Press release date: July 21, 2006

July 21st, 2006, Mansfield, MA-- C&D Technologies has announced that its VRM10 family of DC/DC converters is now fully compliant with RoHS regulations that take effect on 1st July 2006. The four-model VRM10 family is designed and approved for powering the popular Intel Potomac*, Cranford*, Gallatin*, Nocona*, and Irwindale* processors that are typically used in high-end server applications.

The range comprises an 80A 1U module (VR100B080CU-2C), a 120A 2U module (VR102B150CS-2C), and both 1U (VR102B150CU-2C) and 2U (VR102B150CS) 150A modules. With its choice of form factors and output current ratings, the VRM10 family provides hardware developers with a high degree of flexibility when selecting the most appropriate DC/DC converter to power processors in their applications. All of the RoHS compliant modules are fully backwards compatible with non-RoHS versions and meet Intel's processor power specifications (10.0, 10.1 and 10.2).

Each of the modules in the VRM10 family boasts high efficiency (between 85 and 90%), and delivers a 6-bit DAC programmable output voltage of 0.8375V to 1.60V. Typical input voltage for all models is 12.0V.

The comprehensive specification includes power good output, differential remote sense, remote enable, dynamic VID capability, and tri-state output when disabled. Numerous supervisory functions including output over-current, short-circuit protection, over-temperature indication and output current level signal, provide comprehensive protection whilst the modules are operating.
