Instron Introduces Its 5500 Series Accessories for Biomedical Testing

Instron®, a leading provider of testing equipment designed to evaluate the mechanical properties of materials and components, introduces its new BioPulsTM Submersible Pneumatic Side Action Grips and Temperature Controlled Bath with Pneumatic Lifting and Lowering Mechanism, to be used along with the Standard Video Extensometer (SVE).
This unprecedented new offering in the BioPuls product line, was specifically designed for the biomedical testing industry to allow for accurate measurements of load and strain in an environment that simulates the human body. Configured with Instron's 5500 Series load frame, which includes integrated control electronics and load cells that meet or exceed measurement accuracy requirements of ASTM, EN, BS, ISO, JIS and other testing standards, the BioPuls submersible pneumatic grips and temperature controlled bath with the SVE is an ideally suited testing solution for the research and development of medical devices and biomaterials, and quality control laboratories.
The SVE, which can be used independently of the BioPuls bath, provides for high resolution, non-contacting strain measurement for a wide variety of materials. Controlled through set-up windows fully integrated within Instron's Bluehill® 2 software, the SVE runs on a single computer system for increased ease-of-use and proven reliability. For increased flexibility, the SVE can be mounted onto a wide range of Instron testing machines and environmental chambers, allowing for testing at elevated and sub-ambient temperatures.
