Multitest ships first MEMS tri-temp solution for 3+2 axis magnetic test and calibration

Rosenheim, Germany — Multitest, a designer and manufacturer of final test handlers, contactors and load boards used by integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) and final test subcontractors worldwide, announces that its leading solution for 3-axis magnetometer plus 2-axis low g-test and calibration fully supports the technical features of today's advanced 3D hall sensors. The modular concept for sensor test equipment ensures the most economic equipment utilization.

The system has been designed for the industrial and automotive market segments. Both require the highest accuracy and precision as well as the full temperature scope of ambient-hot-cold. The test and calibration solution consists of a MEMS specific add-on that is combined with the MT9510 XP, a standard tri-temp pick-and-place test handler. It leverages the Hemholz know-how from the well-established magnetometer test set-up for the MT93xx and expands it to the pick-and-place handling solution for the full tri-temp range from -40C up to +150C.

The Multitest solution ensures a superior magnetic field homogeneity and high magnetic field strength of 20 mT. It requires only one insertion for the magnetic test and calibration of all three magnetic axes and substantially drives down the cost of test this way. Additional cost savings were realized, because the MEMS cart is added to an existing standard handler already available on the test floor. For future standard IC testing the cart can be easily undocked. This is a smart way to re-use existing equipment and increase equipment utilization and return on investment (ROI).
