Ingres Elevates Roger Burkhardt to President and CEO

Steve Shine Moves From Sybase to Ingres as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Slough, United Kingdom, 9th August 2007: Ingres Corporation, the leading open source information management company, today announced that current president Roger Burkhardt has been appointed CEO. He formerly held the title of President and COO. Steve Shine, who most recently was at Sybase as Senior Vice President and General Manager EMEA, has joined the company as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and reports directly to Burkhardt.

As President and CEO, Burkhardt, who's been at Ingres since July 2006, has responsibility for all facets of the company's worldwide business and is a member of the board.

"Since joining Ingres one year ago, Roger has demonstrated the leadership, skills and passion for winning in the marketplace, and driven results that make his promotion to chief executive officer the right decision for Ingres's future," said Terence Garnett, chairman of the Ingres Board, and Ingres's previous chief executive officer from when the company was divested from Computer Associates in November 2005.
"In the past year, we have exceeded our aggressive targets with tremendous growth in open source subscription revenues, and created important new, strategic partnerships. We will continue to lead the industry with our Ingres-based software appliances with Roger at the helm of our company."

Burkhardt joined Ingres from the New York Stock Exchange, where as Chief Technology Officer and EVP he led a global technology team of 2,000 colleagues through the most important business and technology transformation in the Exchange's history: the shift to electronic trading. Under his leadership, the NYSE embraced open source solutions, maintained world-class reliability standards, and increased transaction volumes seven-fold. http://ingres.com/press/2006-07-11_Add_President.php

"My promotion is the result of a total team effort," said Burkhardt.
"Over the past year, Ingres has outpaced the industry, charting well over 100% growth in new business bookings and 70% year over year growth in total bookings on the back of our enterprise class database technologies. The company is well positioned to continue to deliver excellent growth and to continue to delight its customers with unparalleled enterprise class services."

Steve Shine Brings Global Experience
Shine comes to Ingres from Sybase where he was Senior Vice President and General Manager EMEA overseeing all operational, sales, financial and human resources in the region for the past three years. While he was with Sybase in EMEA, Shine achieved more than $200 million in revenue and managed 500 employees, charting over 50% growth in the Business Intelligence market for Sybase. Prior to Sybase, Shine was at Canadian-based Geac Computer Corporation for ten successful years, helping to successfully turn around two major global divisions for the ERP firm.

"CIOs are looking to put open source in their portfolios and my conversations with them are more than enough proof that the software license model is changing," said Shine. "Ingres is aligned with a changing market, and I'm very excited about the opportunity to drive new
business for Ingres. For me, the timing couldn't be better."

Burkhardt added, "Ingres is growing rapidly and we are extremely pleased to have found such a well-qualified executive as Steve to lead our global sales team."

Shine, who will be based in London, holds a degree in physics from Manchester University.
