New Event Designed to Improve Manufacturers' Competitiveness in 21st Century
DEARBORN, Mich., May 5, 2008 - The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) announces a new event for manufacturers in the oil and gas industry: Manufacturing Innovations - Technologies for Oil and Gas, scheduled June 9-10, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Calgary, Calgary, Alberta, CANADA. Held alongside the Global Petroleum Show - the world's largest oil and gas event - the conference is designed to help manufacturers become more competitive in today's global marketplace and will provide insight on new and existing manufacturing technologies. Industry-leading lean practitioners and business leaders will speak on how innovation in people management can lead to unrivaled results and a positive change in culture.

Keynote Panel Discussion - Creating Manufacturing Competitiveness with LEAN Culture
Many manufacturing leaders consider LEAN a valuable initiative for increasing business effectiveness and profitability; however, challenges arise when companies implement LEAN tools without focusing on the culture needed to sustain any positive efforts. Moderated by Robert A.R. Mills, chairman, Kudo Industries Inc., this session will focus on the "how-to" behind the culture change needed to implement and sustain LEAN efforts within the manufacturing environment. Panel participants include representatives from Kudu Engineering, SAIT Polytechnic, The Learning Factor, The Berg Companies, Weatherford, BodyCote, and Olympus NDT.
